SHB Leipzig Guss offers comprehensive manufacturing solutions for high-quality components, from casting and machining to final fettling and heat treatment.
The SHB plant in Leipzig is one of the most advanced foundries in Europe. We rely on modern technologies and sustainable processes to develop the optimum product for you - customised to your individual requirements. Regardless of whether you request cast parts in series or as individual items, SHB is equipped for every requirement. We also carry out mechanical processing, fettling and heat treatment in-house to guarantee maximum flexibility and smooth processes.
Moulding & melting shop
Thanks to our three moulding lines and the use of hollow moulding processes for large, medium and small series as well as full moulding processes for individual parts, we achieve maximum flexibility and efficiency.
Two high-performance electric arc furnaces with a capacity of 7.5 tonnes each for melting low-alloy and high-alloy steel as well as cast iron with spheroidal graphite and an 8.5 tonne MRP converter offer us special production possibilities. By using a modern induction furnace with a capacity of 1.1 tonnes, we are able to produce with greater flexibility in terms of material and batch size.

Fettling shop and heat treatment
Oxyfuel cutting, gouging, welding and pendulum grinding give the components the necessary polish and the required mechanical and technological values are set with the aid of the correct heat treatment.
Heat treatment process
- Normalising, tempering with hardening in various media media
- Air (various movements)
- Hardening oil (mod. high-performance quenching oil)
- Polymer solution (various concentrations)
- Water
- Austenitising
- Soft & stress-relief annealing
Mechanical processing
Mechanical processing in our company can be carried out on one of our 12 conventional or modern NC and CNC-controlled machine tools. We also work closely with qualified partners. Turning, milling or countersink drilling - we offer the right solution for every requirement.
